Geocache Description:

A "virtual" humorous gem in an out-of-the-way location, but you can drive right up to it.

Boomer's Monument may best be described as an "hysterical marker". I first happened upon it after a day of rock climbing back in the late 70's. I didn't have a camera with me at the time; but as I read Boomer's story, it was indelibly etched in my mind. I was amazed (and amused) at the extent to which someone had gone to record this tongue-in-cheek account. Did the legend beget the monument, or did the monument beget the legend?

I was back in the area again the other day mixing some rock climbing with geocaching, and I wondered whether I could once again find the place I hadn't visited in 20+ years. As we were driving toward a cache, the surroundings began to look strangely familiar. And then I spotted it! I was equipped with both camera and GPSr this time, and I knew immediately that Boomer's Monument was destined to become a geocache.

To log your "found it!", you must first GO TO the monument. Read the story of Boomer and the tragic event that transpired that fateful day so long ago. Then send me an email answering the following questions:
1. On what side of the monument is the plaque (N,S,E,W)?
2. What type of large structure is immediately west of the monument?
3. What type of equipment is immediately south of the structure?

"Found it!" logs will be deleted if not accompanied by an email correctly answering all questions.

Please DO NOT post answers, photos that would give away the answers, or legible photos of the plaque. Logs containing any of these WILL BE DELETED.
