This is an unique location as Peace Arch Provincial Park is located on the North side of the Canada/USA Border in what's called no mans land.
On the USA side you have Peace Arch State Park in Washington State.
One can visit the Peace Arch without having to cross the Canada/USA Border or needing a Passport/Nexus card.
The Peace Arch was built in 1920 and dedicated on September 6, 1921. It was built to commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. The Peace Arch was designated as World Heritage site on December 13, 1996
On the Peace Arch there are wrought iron gates, fixed in an open position, with inscriptions above: "1814 - Open One Hundred Years - 1914" and "May These Gates Never be Closed" The sad part is the gates were closed on September 11 2001 for a brief time.
We will assemble at the coordinates at 0945 and then extend our hands across the Boundary at Peace Arch for 1000.
The Event will finish at 1015 Hours
Little Canadian Flag Pins will be handed out to those attending the Canadian Event.
There will be a group photo at the Peace Arch
Time 0945 to 1015 Hours Place: Peace Arch Park on the Canada Side.
Please note that the turn off from Highway 99 into Peace Arch Park is just before the Duty Free Store in the right lane. If you go past the Duty Free Store you better have your Passport or Nexus with you.
