Geocache Description:

My 2nd trail starts at Elsted. Elsted lies in the Chichester district of West Sussex, England. It lies within the civil parish of Elsted and Treyford.

The small anglican parish church north of the crossroads, St. Pauls, has a nave which had become derelict, leaving the chancel as the village church, until it was rebuilt in the 1950s. The surviving north wall is of Norman style herringbone stonework, with two round arched doorways filled in to make lancet windows. The rebuilt walls and windows are sadly out of character.

The village has one public house, and there is another at the former Elsted railway station at Elsted Marsh east of the village.

The Trail :-

I'm afraid I wasn't terribly adventurous with the hiding places due to lack of good spots, and easily identifiable ones (all the trees looked alike after a while !)

some of the paths were very deep mud. There's some foresting work going on up beacon hill and lots of tractors which really churn up the road. The Hill is quite steep and the downward stretch through the wood could be too steep for a bike. Also be aware of shooters. I Heard a lot of gunshots and when I took a wrong turn I ended up in the firing line, luckily I was wearing Hi-vis so the shooter saw me ! gulp !!

Scenary is really nice I thought. Especialy around Beacon Hill.
