Geocache Description:

We have finished the new barn and now have tunnel ventilation, alley scrappers and 7 robots running.

Come join me for this social event. We can discuss Geocaching, puzzles, creative cache placements and swap trackables and discuss our crazy adventures. After all, this is a geocaching event.  In the event that we have bad weather I do have a room set aside that we can use. Don't forget to sign the Event log!

When: Saturday August 13th 12:00pm til 4:00 pm

Where: A. Ooms and Sons Dairy Farm Valatie, NY

What to bring: Muck Boots and the Family

We will provide snacks and drinks

What you will experience: The cow’s daily routine from birth to adult.

We invite you and the family to tour the family farm. Within the last year we added robots to our milking process.

About the Robots:

The robotic milkers allow us to milk cow after cow without the help of a single farmhand. The cow determines her own rhythm. The identification system recognizes the cow, determines whether it is time for it to be milked and then decides how much concentrate it should be given. The robot arm then approaches the udder between the cow’s back legs. The latest camera techniques enable the teat position to be ascertained and the teat cups to be connected.

The robot completes the entire milking process from the enclosed technical area. From washing and pre-milking with the separate pre-treatment cups (the teats are individually cleaned and pre-milked) to the actual milking process and post-milking teat procedures.

The milking process is continuously monitored via the various sensors and measurement devices.

I hope to see you all there!!
