Blue Rock
Lookout was originally a 45' pole tower with L-4 cab
constructed in 1934. It was replaced by a 53' treated timber tower
with R-6 flat cab in 1963. Then in 1973 it was moved to Robinson
Butte and is still serving as an active lookout.
This old lookout site
borders the Sky Lakes Wilderness. The road to the site is on top of
the ridge and everything to the east is wilderness. The cache is on
the west side of the road and outside the wilderness
boundary.
You are looking for a
regular size cammo container with a log and some trade items.
Forest Service roads 37 & 3770 are good gravel roads to the
Blue Canyon Trailhead. Beyond there it is about 3/4 mile to the
cache site and it is pretty rough and rocky. We recommend a high
ground clearance vehicle. There is ample area to turn around at the
top. This cache is only accessible in the summer months due to
snow.
Elevation is
6551'.
