Geocache Description:

A short walk in Nelson along an old town road to an early 1800s homestead.

This cache is placed about 0.7 miles from the Old Stoddard Road trailhead. Park at N43°00.697 W072°05.608. You can pick up a nature trail guide at the mailbox near the parking lot which will tell you about the history, wildlife, plants and trees along the trail.

This cache is on the location of the former farm of Stephen Osborn of Nelson. He came to the area in the early 1800s. A short distance downhill from here near Bailey Brook is the site of sawmill, built around 1815. The cache is near what was the foundation of the main house. The cache is not in the foundation. There is a well near the cache, covered with grating, and other foundations nearby. Please watch your little ones in this area. The cache is a small lock & lock.

This land is managed by the Harris Center in Hancock, and the cache placed with their permission.
