This is a gorgeous scenic park that is quite large and quite underused. I entered this time from Dakota Trail in Franklin Lakes and proceeded to this beautiful viewpoint overlooking Point View Reservoir and most of Wayne. The rock formations on the way in are quite unusual. See the map of this park at this link.
The trail from Dakota leads you through a gap in the mountains. You will gradually gain a couple of hundred feet if you go the the cache this way. Check the map on the website above. There are many trails here. You can come in from High Mountain with its gorgeous views of NYC and North East NJ where I have also placed another cache. The cache is an ammo box filled with goodies. The original contents include a sports watch, a glue gun, a bead set, a tape measure, a small basketball, a Greek coin and a a token from Six Flags. The cache is well hidden not too far from the view point. Please hide it well after you have found it. I now have a total of 9 caches in this park and an additional one nearby, Buttermilk Falls. Get them all for a good tour of High Mountain Wilderness Preserve
