There are so many cool rock formations along this coulee. We remember stopping to look at this particular formation before, because we wondered if it was a glacial erratic. It is in fact like the other rock formations along the ridge of this coulee: exposed bedrock (sandstone or limestone?) that will soon have the appearance of hoodoos. In fact this whole coulee will start looking like the Badlands of Alberta, given enough time and proper conditions. These formations have all sorts of interesting lichen on them, hence the name.
The title is also a hint for the cache container itself. We always love coming out to this coulee--it has some amazing views, with the meandering creek that runs through it, and in the Spring and Summer the slopes are generally lush and green with wild grasses.
