Barskoon gorge is located on the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, 80 km from Karakol.
The length of the canyon is about 30 km.
At the beginning of the gorge grow sparse shrubs and steppe grasses.
Further, on both slopes of the gorge rise huge Tien-Shan spruce. Above 2800m one can find juniper groves.
On the road, which runs through the gorge Barskoon are unusual monuments - Soviet truck on the platform, and a bust of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, rests on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul after his flight into space.
From the gorge overlooking the snowy peaks of the surrounding mountains, the highest and most beautiful - the peak Panfilov Heroes (4610 m) and the peak of the World Peace Council (4310 m).
Barskoon gorge is famous for its cascading waterfalls. The most picturesque are interesting names: The tears of Bars, Beard elder, Splashes of champagne and a bowl of Manas.
Through the gorge runs the road to the Kumtor gold mine, and it is noteworthy that in many small tributaries of the river in the gorge can be seen particles of golden sand, playing in the sun.
