Kanda Myojin has a history of almost 1300 years and is located in Edo-Tokyo. During the Edo period, it was known as the "Edo Sōchinju" and protected everything in Edo from the shogun to the common people. Even today, it serves as the guardian deity of the 108 towns in Tokyo, including Kanda, Nihonbashi, Akihabara, Otemachi, and Marunouchi, preserving the splendid traditional culture of Edo while constantly pursuing development and creativity in the heart of Tokyo. The 108 towns, which are the parishioners of Kanda Myojin, are towns where the life and culture of Edo and Tokyo are condensed. Kanda is the original downtown area where the blood of the Edokko flows through the streets. Nihonbashi is a town that conveys the culture of Edo's clothing, food, and shelter where long-established stores are gathered. Akihabara is a town where the world's attention is focused on the forefront of IT and subculture. Otemachi and Marunouchi are towns where major Japanese corporations are crowded with businesspeople. There are also markets that continue to support the food culture of the people of Edo-Tokyo, such as the former Kanda Market (Ota Market) and Tsukiji Fish Market. 2015年、秋葉原や神田明神も舞台になっているアニメーション映画"ラブライブ"が大ヒットし、神田明神には大勢のアニメファンが訪れています。
ここにある明神男坂は、アニメの中で何度も舞台になった階段です。階段の前で記念写真を撮っているファンも多いです。

神田明神の境内では、イラストを絵馬に描いて奉納された”多くの痛絵馬”を見ることができます。
プロの漫画家の描いた絵馬から、初心者の描いた絵馬までたくさんあります。中には海外の方が書いた絵馬もあります。
1300年近くの歴史を持ちながら、変わり続けるサブカルチャーも受け入れてくださる神田明神は大変魅力的です。
ここは日本の伝統文化と秋葉原に代表されるサブカルチャーの両方を感じることができる、稀有な場所です。

In 2015, animation movie "Love Live! The School Idol Movie" which is also set in "Akihabara" and "Kanda Myojin" was a huge hit and many anime fans visited "Kanda Myojin".
Here is "Otokozaka", a staircase that has become a stage many times in anime. Many fans are taking a commemorative photo in front of the stairs.

In the precincts of "Kanda Myojin", you can see "many japanese ema(love live)" dedicated to drawing illustrations on ema.
There are many from an japanese ema painted by a professional cartoonist to an japanese ema drawn by a beginner. Some japanese ema also wrote overseas.
"Kanda Myojin" who accepts the changing subculture while having history near 1300 is very attractive.
This is a rare place where you can feel both Japanese traditional culture and subculture represented by Akihabara.
