Most rural people know what "sign" is but there are many geocachers that are wondering what it means. Most outdoor enthusiasts that hike where there is an abundance of wildlife watch the ground for "sign" of the active wildlife in the area. The "sign" they are looking for are tracks and/or excrement; because a Pterodactyl is a flying creature that land in trees the "sign" would be excrement left while they are perched in the upper branches. Excrement sign can be very reveling, if it's fresh they could be near by and the composition can give clues to what their diet is. So please keep an eye on pets and small children in the area as we do not want them to become part of the Pterodactyl Sign in the area.
