This cache is being placed as a memorial to Borders Books & Music.
I got the idea for what became a series of 16 caches from my wife's former workplace. She was employed at Borders Books & Music in Bridgewater, NJ, from 2002 through 2006. Borders, of course, was one of the United States' two largest brick and mortar bookstores. However, due to overexpansion, bad management, and the surge of Amazon as a book purveyor and e-book leader, Borders was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The owners were unable to find a buyer for the company, and all its retail locations closed by September 2011. In order to honor the memory of the good times both she and I had here, I'm placing a series of caches at each of New Jersey's retail locations. We visited the Ramsey store a grand total of once and that was quite some time ago. The signage is still up - yay for convenience! - so you'll know you're in the right place. Muggle activity is high due to the presence of other big box stores in the area, so stealth is key. The cache will likely require a special tool to remove the log. Please bring your own writing implement, and hide the cache the same or better than you found it. Be stealthy, my friends, and keep on caching! Congratulations to BriGuyNY on FTF!
