Ben Nevis Vertical Limit Extreme Geocache Event Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: Time to send this event to the big Swiss Clinic in the sky. Thanks again to everyone who made this unusual event (especially those who did get a photo of them on top of the trig point!) and double-thanks to the two crazy men who made this one and one of my other mountain-top events the following day.

A final plea- I was offered cash on top of Ben Nevis but declined in favour of accepting it online, where Tax could be claimed back and all that. Just a nudge if you were that generous soul! [:)]

Please have a look at any TBs which are still logged in and until next time, keep your feet on the ground but never stop reaching for the stars... by climbing big lumps of rock!

Geocache Description:

2pm - Tuesday June 30th. Having already climbed Ben Nevis, in 2005, and being in great shape -if I say so myself- I've decided to turn reclimbing it into a Three Peaks Challenge Event. Two days after this event will also be my brother's 40th birthday, so he'll be joining me for all three and I'm inviting other cachers to join us at the top. The very top- The given co-ords are for the top of the trigpoint, making this Scotland and the UK's highest possible cache/event!

Simply Paul at the top for a geocaching event in June 2005

The Plan: I'll be leaving the main car park at the foot of Ben Nevis (15m above mean sea level) at 9am and intend to enjoy a steady climb suitable for non-Action Man types to the top (1343m) via the so-called Tourist Path. Although the event is at the top, not the climb, you'd be welcome to join me.

The Event: To officially make this the highest cache/event in the UK, it'd be nice to get you up on the trig point itself. Sitting or standing... Once everyone expected to attend has arrived, or at 2pm if that's sooner, we'll find a sheltered spot to talk caching and swap coins and TBs to ensure this unusual event complies with Groundspeak event listing requirements. There's also an Earth Cache, a physical and a moving virtual (ye ole survey monuments- the trig) at or close to the top, but this event isn't about finding them, it's about saying 'you made it!' :)

There's a thread about this event on the UK forum

There are three other 'extreme' events around the same time; In Scotland GC19G7E Britain's Third Most Remote Event Cache (Unst), in England GC1PRQV Scafell Pike Vertical Limit Extreme Geocache Event and Wales GC1PRQ0 Snowdon Vertical Limit Extreme Geocache Event.

More information to follow so please add this event to your watch list.

[Go upwards as far as possible without leaving the country. When you can't go any higher without wings or a ladder, stop; you're here!]
