Geocache Description:

Just off a gravel parking area

The third in a series dedicated to the people who endured the fire of 1936 which all but destroyed Bandon, Oregon. This is a small container with room for small travel bugs or trade items. This area is where several people of the town came to escape the raging fire. Several vehicles got stuck in the soft sand and were eventually consumed by the fire. People huddled together and tried to escape the smoke and flames by retreating toward the ocean. Some tried to shield themselves by covering themselves with sand. All spend a fearful and cold night. Please be careful as this area can be very busy. Be careful of the wild geese on the way to the cache and watch out for a duck in the area of the cache. We hope you enjoy this and the other caches in the area. *NOTE* Duck-n-Deedy have flown south for the winter so the warning about the duck can now be ignored. Kind of like Deedy ingnores him too. Had a great summer thanks.
