This cache has been archived.

GeoJudt: This trail has had a good nearly two-year run and the coin supply has been exhausted. The caches will now begin to be archived as they go missing. I checked on this one today, and it's time has come. Thanks for visiting!

Geocache Description:

Broken Bridge on the Cowboy Trail

The Cowboy Trail is the nation’s longest “Rails to Trails” conversion and Nebraska’s first state recreational trail. The trail was once a railway of the Chicago and North Western Railroad. The Broken Bridge is a monumental bridge on the trail that had to be rebuilt after a flood in 2010 washed the original bridge out. The 2 million dollar bridge was designed to resemble the historic trestle bridge that fell down during the flood. It was reopened in June 2013 with runners and bikers breaking through the red ribbon.

2016 marks the 150th Anniversary of Norfolk's founding.  The celebration continues though the end of the year!  16 geocaches have been placed at historic locations around Norfolk.  You are invited to "Uncover Norfolk's Past . . . One Cache At A Time".  Each cache contains a punch specific to that location (DO NOT REMOVE PUNCH FROM CACHE).  Sign the cache log and then use the punch to mark your game card for that location.  Game cards are available at the Norfolk Visitor's Bureau (609 W Norfolk Ave) and at the Dover office (1000 W Norfolk Ave).  When you have completed the trail and filled your card, you can turn it in for a commemorative Norfolk 150 Geocoin (while supplies last)!

If you complete the trail and turn in your game card prior to September 23rd, 2016, you will also be entered into a drawing for a brand new 50" flatscreen TV to be given away at Norfolk's Oktoberfest celebration on September 24th!! You need not be present to win the TV and no purchase is necessary.  The Norfolk 150 Trail will be open through DECEMBER 31st, 2016!

Permission has been granted for placement of this cache.  Please be respectful of the area and use stealth when necessary.

Good luck and we'll see you on the trail!
