There's always a slight buzz from standing on any bridge as you see the world from a different angle and have the traffic whizzing along underneath. This is a simple cache to act as a good excuse to visit this high viewpoint. Not the most brilliant place in the world but worth a small diversion and a short walk.
When the A590 was built it by-passed a short section of the A6, now only travelled if you are off to Milnthorpe. When you stop to look at it, this new bit of road with its bridges, cutting and junction underpass was quite a complicated piece of civil engineering. The deep cutting also divided the farm land so the two bridges have been built to allow access across the busy road. A concrete farm 'road' and footpath leads from the A6 to this vantage point - sometimes you see cows walking across, high above the road.
If you wish you can make a varied circular walk by continuing across the field to Levens village, round to the beautiful church, follow another footpath back across the western bridge of this pair, and return along the river bank on the Cumbria Coastal Way. It's a well fenced bridge so it's safe for kids and dogs. You may find cows in the field to the NW. A music hint is below, especially for FMH! If for some reason you're not fully up to speed on mid-sixties hits, don't worry, as it is a pretty easy hide with excellent GPS reception.
