Geocache Description:

This is a Wherigo cartridge that is a tour guide style and to complete it you will have to walk the boardwalks at the Potters Marsh Boardwalk and answer some questions from the signage there to get to the final which is a traditional cache.

I want to make sure everyone knows before they arrive or plan on doing this wherigo, the park has some different rules based on what you are experiencing here.  I am sorry they are not my rules.

No dogs allowed on the boardwalk

There are no food, drinks or smoking allowed on the boardwalk.

No camping

No fishing or hunting

No overnight parking

Potters Marsh Boardwalk is open from 6am till 10pm so make sure you don't get locked in.

Ok now to the fun stuff! Potters Marsh is a wonderful area to see wildlife and birds, depending on when you visit you can see nesting waterfowl, migrating birds, some travel over 22,000 miles just to nest here, from the Antarctica. You can see fish, to include salmon. There is an eagles nest on the east end of the boardwalk and when I was setting up this Wherigo I watched it in the nest. Other animals large and small from moose to tiny voles can be seen.
If you have binoculars, I would bring them to get deeper views of the marsh.  The marsh is just a small section of the 32,500 acres of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge that you can read more about while visiting here.

Please take you time and enjoy the area as you search and complete this wherigo. It has been a wonderful visit for me evertyime I've come here, something nice or different to see and experience depending on the time of the year.  It is still active in the winter months too.

There are numerous geocaches around here you can attempt as well.  I would like to put a special plug in for the Earthcache here called Making of Potters Marsh  it is by Ladybug Kids.  It provides lots of information about the Marsh and it's formation.

Hope you enjoy your time here. the wherigo will take some time to complete and if you stop to enjoy the activity in the marsh it will take a while to complete. There is about 1/2 mile of boardwalk here.

After you have visited all the locations and answered the question(s) properly at each location you will then be given the coordinates to the final and a hint to help you to find the final. The final location is a traditional geocache, you must sign the log to complete the cache so bring a pen or pencil. the container is a micro and not large enough to hold a pencil

To hunt this Wherigo, you must download the cartridge, "Potters Marsh". It is pretty easy to search for as there are only a few of wherigos in Alaska. Here is the link. (Click to download "Potters Marsh" cartridge)

This Wherigo is brought to you by a proud member of Geocache Alaska.
