Gobyfish Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Zartimus: Seems they cache is missing. I'm going to open up this spot to other cachers to place a new one by archiving it. This was origionally a hand-painted ammo box but was subject to the "ammo-box thefts" of a few years ago where some geocacher was going in, taking the ammo boxes and leaving a cheaper plastic version behind (that is not how the game is played mysterious ammo-box thieving dude).

Oh well, at least they left a replacement for awhile. I wonder if anyone ever found out who that was?

Geocache Description:

This has been placed in preparation for the Ottawa Go and Get 'Em 4 event so please wait until Friday Feb 27th @ 18:00 before seeking it. This cache is named after the elusive Gobyfish and is also a homage to Canada's coolest fingerstyle guitarist Don Ross of Cannington Ontario, who seems to have adopted the Goby as his mascot of sorts! It also looks remarkably like the poisonous Rockfish found off the coast of Aruba which I had the good fortune to be impaled by in they winter of 1998 shortly after which I got to visit my first foreign hospital (they speak Dutch there, "Ishn't zhat Veird Tripper?"). Aside from a hand swelled to the size of a baseball mitt and all sorts of interesting hallucinations it was great!

The cache itself is a cammoed-ammo-box sequestered inside a hollow tree partially obscured by a previously constructed bark cover. Please take care to place it back properly. When placed just right the ammo box is obscured and the bark cover just looks like.. Well.. bark...

You can park off of Riverside drive in the vicinity of N45 24.526 W75 39.931. There is a sign that says no parking after 9:00PM.
