The "Heart of Stone" is a truly special place to find, deep in the heart of Tara National Park, and is located on the hiking trail (route #9) that takes you from Mitrovac to the breath-taking Banjska Stena viewpoint. The hiking trail is 6 km long and starts from the entrance to the "Red Creek" Reserve at Mitrovac, and you will find the Heart of Stone approximately 5 km along the trail, at the GPS coordinates provided. You can also drive along most of the trail by car if you prefer and there are plenty of spots to park the car.
The trail is mostly along a gravel road, so you can drive along most of the trail by car if you prefer, and then walk the last 0.5 km to the Banjska Stena viewpoint. Along the way, you will find information boards describing bears, Tara plant species and its forest ecosystems, with many benches and well equipped rest areas with gazebos.
The cache is a medium sized container stored inside a plastic zip-lock bag, and is full of nice little gifts and goodies for you to take/exchange with some of your own. Please feel free to complete the logbook when you find the cache, and share photos of you finding the cache here online too!
