Geocache Description:

This puzzle series was inspired by ePeterso2’s series “Puzzle Solving 101”. Even though the traditional method of learning is the best, there is always something to said about taking shortcuts. This series should be a sort of “Cliff Notes” for those that would like to get some the pesky “?”s on their solved list. Follow along make sure you keep the final coordinates for each one of these puzzles because they will help you to solve the final puzzle.

In a puzzle like this, the puzzle maker selects symbols or other letters for a 1-to-1 ratio substitution. This means that if the puzzle maker decided that “A” equals “Z”, then all A’s in the plain text would be ciphered to Z’s. The same would be true if the puzzle maker decided “C” equals “D”. The difference between this type of cipher and a ROT or Caeser cipher is that each letter can be replaced at random, as long as it is a 1-to-1 ratio. Symbols/pictures can also be substituted for each letter.

“A” should not equal both “Z” and “C”. For a 1-to-1 ratio “A” could only equal one of these.
