Geocache Description:

Cache is a small tab lock tumber in a black sack. It contains a log and pencil and a few small trades.

A quick cache and dash in the beautiful Antrim Hills above Cushendall, overlooking Tievebulliagh mountain, Glenann and Glenann River.

Tievebulliagh is a 402m high mountain in the Glens of Antrim, Northern Ireland. It forms part of the watershed between Glenann to the north and Glenballyeamon to the south.

The distinctively-shaped summit of Tievebulliagh is easy to see from miles around. It is formed from a dolerite plug cutting through the chalk and Lower Basalt. A slab of lateritic rock fell into the magma and was baked hard by the intense heat, forming an extremely hard rock called porcellanite, which was worked in Neolithic times to make axes and other tools. Rejects, flakes and part-finished axe-heads may still be found round about and on the hilltop – but no finished ones. It was here that the axe-heads were roughed out before being finished at the seashore (Whitepark Bay) , and exported all over the British Isles.
The cairn on top of Tievebulliagh is probably of Bronze Age date.

There is parking for a car on the opposite side of the road from the cache.
