View when placed
This cache is one in a series of "citizen scientist & change observation" geocaches placed by the Anchorage Museum. The idea is to attract seasoned, new, or wannabe geocachers to the idea of going to specific locations (around Anchorage and Alaska) and making and recording their observation of a specific view and changes they see. The goal is to capture images over time, i.e., hours, days, weeks, months, and years that will help us all see changes in weather, phenology (e.g., the vegetation in the cemetery changing color), snowfall and melt. The view from this geocache is of a part of the Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. The geocache is NOT in the Cemetery and does NOT require a successful cacher to climb on or dismantle anything.
After signing the log we'd appreciate if you'd join us as a "citizen scientist & change detector" by taking and posting a photo of the view from the geocache in landscape format. Place your smartphone or camera against the fence at the height of dark black paint mark in the shape of a reversed letter "C", aiming your camera into the cemetery.
This alignment will help us link the images over time. The photos will be used to share information with museum visitors and others, and you will help us by supplying the photos! Don't assume that there have not been changed since the previously posted photo. We are also interested in those subtle changes. When you log your find, please tell us about the weather and time/date the photo was taken.
