WHEN? Sunday 24th September, 10 am – 12 noon. This event is part of the GAGB's official Cache In Trash Out annual weekend >
MEET: At the far end of Pool Lane, near the Ribble estuary, south of Freckleton.
WHO? This event is open to all! However, children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
WHY? There are large amounts of litter on the banks of the Ribble Estuary, both transported there by rivers and brought in with the tide. Not only is it unsightly, but it’s posing a huge threat to our wildlife. We will work our way west along the estuary, towards Warton, clearing up the litter as we go.
WHAT TO BRING: Bring (clean) wellies or boots and gardening gloves if you have them (a small number of wellies and gloves will be available for those who don’t). All litter picking equipment will be provided. You will be walking on the banks of the estuary, so please ensure there are no seeds or mud on your wellies that could pollute the area. As it’s the north of England, please come prepared for all weathers with sun cream, insect repellent and waterproof clothing. It is advised that you bring a drink and a snack, however refreshments and biscuits will be provided.
There are plenty of caches within a 5 mile radius of the site, including some next to the estuary, so after you’ve done your good deed for the morning, why not enjoy an afternoon of geocaching?
Please log your visit and the number in your party so we know how many helpers to expect – we wouldn’t want to have a shortage of biscuits!
