Geocache Description:

St Peters Church, LAMERTON was burnt down in 1877. It was rebuilt, except the tower, in the 15th century style in 1879-80. It is a spacious church, with large Perpendicular windows filled with clear glass. There is a fine monument to the Tremayne family, erected in 1588, and there are some good incised slate tombstones in the churchyard. Opposite the church is the medieval priest's house, built in the 13th Century.

This is a simple Church Micro multi-cache set up in my (Worthski's) home parish of Lamerton.  There is parking available at either side of the church & unless  'a celebration of hatch, a match or dispatch' is taking place, should be ample.  You may however choose to park at the top of the hill, by Lamerton C of E Primary school & walk through the lovely avenue of Lime trees that leads you to the front entrance of the church.

You will need to visit three locations to gain information that will provide you with the final co-ordinates for the cache.  The final destination is:

N 50 ab.af(b+e)  W 004 (f-c)e.a(c-e)d

The Waypoints 2, 3 & 4 will provide you with the clues you need to lead you to the final destination of this cache. Waypoint 1 leads you to the front door of St. Peters Church.

1.(Waypoint 2) Ye olde priest house, built during the 13th century, was restored in 19ab?
2.(Waypoint 3) Gabriel Edgecombe is buried within a fenced tomb. He died on the 3rd April 1c7d?
3.(Waypoint 4) Come sit with two dear friends. On 21st June 1992 Simon Williams tragically died. How old was he? ef

The cache is large enough to hold travel bugs/tags/swaps etc. Please replace it exactly as you find it & well hidden from passing view.

Should you wish to extend your walk (and assuming you have entered via the front gate to the church) then you can exit the church grounds via the back gate. This leads you along a public footpath to a quiet country lane, next to some cow sheds. Turn left at the end of this path onto the road and towards the village cemetary and then left again at the cemetary (a generally quiet, but well used by locals, road).  This road leads you down to Lamerton C of E Primary School (on your right) and then to the avenue of Lime trees that leads you back to the church. Approx. 10 minute walk & not strenuous at all!

Good luck! smiley
