Geocache Description:

Fore Abbey, near Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath.
The site is included on the Tain Trail and quite popular. The cache is located within view of the site but should be accessable even when there are visitors about.
Cache replaced on 01-11-2016 as original site fenced off.

Fore Abbey is the only Benedictine remains in Ireland and dates back to 630 A.D when St. Fechin founded a monastery here which grew into a community of 300 monks. This historical site associated with the "Seven Wonders of Fore".

• Stone Lintel raised by St. Fechin’s prayers.
