Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, built in the 1960's and still evolving today, is one of the greatest homes to the arts in the entire world. From the listed coordinates, facing WestNorthWest, one can see the Metropolitan Opera House, home to the Metropolitan Opera and American Ballet Theater. To your left is the David H. Koch Theater, home to the New York City Ballet, and to your right is Avery Fischer Hall, home to the New York Philharmonic. Walking a few hundred feet NorthNorthWest is the Vivian Beaumont Theater where one can see everything from solo shows to full musicals. Lincoln Center extends across the street to include Alice Tully Hall (hosting chamber music, small orchestras, etc.), the Film Society of Lincoln Center, and the Juilliard School. Take a walk down Broadway to Columbus Circle where you'll find Jazz at Lincoln Center.
This cache honors both Lincoln Center and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (b. Salzburg 1756, d. Vienna 1791) who was, in my opinion, the greatest of the classical composers; his works are performed here every week, and each summer brings the Mostly Mozart Festival to this venue. His father trained him to play for royalty, at the most tender of ages. In his brief life he composed almost countless works, including more than 40 symphonies, 20 operas, and 25 piano concertos.
FTF will receive a music CD from the CO, featuring the music of our hero!
