B5 - Battleship - Cape Cod Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Abby's Followers: It is with a heavy heart that I am archiving this series. When I started it, I was in a different place in life and had plenty of time for it. I was warned ahead of time that it was going to be a bear of a job in the maintenance department but again, I had the time.

Life has changed much since then.... If I was unable to get out to fix it in a timely manner, I always kept in touch with cachers as they made their logs to make sure there was no interruption in their game. Some worked with me and did maintenance as well but the list has gotten too large.

I apologize to those still working on it, hoping to finish it at some point but at this point in time I am just unable to honor the commitment I made at creation.

Maybe when life slows back down.....

Geocache Description:

Battleship is a guessing game known worldwide and predates World War I. It was published by Milton Bradley Company in 1931 as the pad and pencil game "Broadsides, the Game of Naval Strategy" and then as the board game "Battleship" in 1967.

Ships are placed on a grid either horizontally or vertically and by using the corresponding numbers and letters for each square on the grid you must locate and "hit" each ship a number of times, based on the size of the ship, in order to sink it.

While vacationing we came across a series that we just had to bring to Cape Cod. We haven't even completed the other yet but the idea was so perfect we got started as soon as we got back. We won't be back there until spring anyhow.

You may or may not need to find all of the caches on the grid in order to complete the series, but you're welcome to just the same. Some are "hits" and some are "misses". The "hits" will also contain numbers needed to find each of the 5 puzzle caches: "GC40DT2 - Patrol Boat", "GC40EN3 - Submarine", "GC40EKA - Cruiser", "GC40EQ2 - Aircraft Carrier" and "GC40EPM - Battleship". Each of these 5 puzzle caches will also contain numbers needed to find "Battleship - Cape Cod".

Each of the 64 individual (micro) caches are winter friendly, quick finds while the 5 puzzle caches and "Battleship - Cape Cod" will be larger caches and may require a short walk to make the find.

Please, to allow everyone the opportunity to fully enjoy the series, do not include in your logs whether a cache was a "hit" or a "miss".
