Take Me To Your Leader Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Phil100: I have been to check the cache this morning and it appears to be gone. I think that the alien must have decided to return to his own planet! 😉

There is quite a bit of rubbish in the location now so I have decided to archive the cache rather than replace it . However, the previous logger had solved the puzzle and was obviously in the right place so I am more than happy for him to log a "Found it" smiley. 👍

Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the published co-ordinates - in fact, there isn't even any parking there! If you were able to go to the location, you would probably see some flying objects, but not unidentified flying objects, as the co-ordinates would take you to a location on the flight path into Newcastle Airport!!

For several decades there have been rumours of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and visitors from other worlds. To be honest I was always a bit sceptical but recently, after a chance encounter, I may have changed my mind.

After the last geocaching meet, I was on the Metro returning home when I was engaged in conversation with a rather strange little guy. Now, as a geocacher, I am used to strange people but there was definitely something a bit different about him. He asked me where I had been and he was most interested when I explained to him about Geocaching but he was particularly interested in disco caches. He was interested in the concept of hiding things in plain sight because in the world that he came from they had a highly developed technology which allowed him to convert his spacecraft into something that would just blend with wherever he was. He told me that his current spacecraft was parked somewhere on Tyneside and he showed me a photograph of it on its refuelling and launching dock. It seemed a little familiar but I couldn't quite remember where I had seen it.

I asked my new friend where he was travelling to and he said that although it was convenient to park his spacecraft where it was he preferred to stay in a more quiet location and said that he had found just the right place a few miles away. I asked him where it was and he said that he didn't know if the place had a name but that it was 14,615 metres at a bearing of 293.28 degrees from the dead centre of his craft. By now we had reached my station and so we said our goodbyes and I left him to continue his journey.

I'm still not sure whether or not I imagined all of this but, the next morning when I awoke, not only did I have a bit of a hangover but, in my pocket, I had the photograph that I have posted above and a scrap of paper with written on it: "14,615 metres on a bearing of 293.28 degrees". Perhaps, at the next geocaching meet, I might have a bit less to drink.
