Take I-70 to the Parachute exit (#75) go South a quarter mile or so towards Battlement Mesa then turn right on Cardinal Way towards City Hall and the Fire Station. Continue on Cardinal Way until the mini storage place then go left on Colorado to the city park. Park just North of the Parachute city park and rodeo grounds you will need a Colorado Department of Wildlife Habitat stamp.
The island is not accessable during the Spring run off the rest of the year you will need to cross water less than one foot deep. Do not let the map fool you the main channel is on the East side the one on the West side is not very wide maybe thirty feet. In the summer the island is over grown so make your way to the South end then follow the East shore back North to the find. We hunt waterfowl from this island and there are many other kinds of wildlife here. The cache contains items about wildlife on the island.
