Geocache Description:

The 1stA Birmingham Boys’ Brigade are celebrating 100 years in 2013.

A series of Caches have been placed at significant places around Birmingham.

A commemorative Centenary Badge is included for the FTF.

This Cache is located at the old Pembroke Fields. The fields were acquired in 1922 by Sir Donald Finnemore, the Company Captain & founder as “an unending source of health & happiness for all our boys”. The fields were named after an Oxford College attended by Sir Donald. In 1934 a fine pavilion was presented to the company by old boys and friends.

For many years the fields were used for football, cricket, athletics, camping, bonfires & many sports for boys in Birmingham, the UK and the rest of the world. Unfortunately due to vandalism the pavilions and fields came into disrepair and were sold. The area now includes 5 aside football pitches, a hotel & DIY store.

There is no pen in the cache (please bring your own). The cache is by a  busy main road but you should have no problems retrieving the cache. Would recommend parking near Goals and following the cycle path to GZ.

Please replace as found, Many Thanks
