Geocache Description:

Cache is at the very end of the Schofield Waikane Trail. It's a long hike and as stated on other of my caches the rating system questions really don't work for Hawaii.

This is my second cache on this trail. The first was place about 1/2 way to the summit last year on Father's Day. Today I made it to the summit.

This hike is described in Stuart Ball’s book “The Hiker’s Guide to O`ahu”, 2nd edition, on page 148. The danger is low, but it’s a long one 14 miles round trip.

Remember access is w/PERMISSION of the US Army. Write to :
Commander, U.S. Army Garrison, Hawaii
Schofield Barracks, HI 96857
Attn: APVG-GWY-O

The trail was cleared today May 22 2005 all the way to the summit. If you can wait until June 5th you can accompany members of the Hawaii Trail and Mountain Club on their hike. They will have the permits from the army, and if you are lucky and there are enought 4 wheel drive cars/trucks you can be driven to the trail head which is about 2 miles above the end of Calf Ave in Wahiawa. This saves at least 2 hours of walking total. If you want to go along w/HTMC and are not a member please call the Hike Coordinator Mike Algiers, ph. 422-1048.
