This cache is located past Maalaea, off the road heading towards Lahaina.
Check out this monument to the scandinavians of Maui. This cache was placed in honor of the 125th anniversary of the only mass scandinavian immigration to the Hawaiian Islands.
New (8-26-06) container is a medium 8" x 6" clear Lock & Lock container in "HEAVY" camouflage. THERE IS A NEW LETTERBOX HIDDEN IN THIS AREA...MY CACHE IS NOT SMALL ENOUGH TO FIT IN A ZIPLOCK BAG...THAT IS THE LETTERBOX. New (8-26-06) contents include: A handmade ribbon lei , pirate toys, coins, coin purses, a rubber ducky, and a non-tradeable first aid kit....for just in case.
THIS CACHE IS OVER THE CLIFF, but there is a trail to the right of the monument, so no rock climbing is required (or suggested). The trail to the cache is a little steep, (geocaching.com actually rated this cache a 3.25 for terrain, but that isn't one of the options) so shoes would be better than slippers on this one. Please lock your car doors and don't leave any valueables. It can also get pretty windy and hot here. This is an excellent spot to whale watch in the winter months, with not many people around. There are also some neat tide pools nearby. We hope you enjoy our very first cache.
