Movie Memories - Bridget Jones Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Madam Cholet: I'm going to archive this as there is extensive building work at one clue and extensive gardening at the final which means the cache has gone missing again already. I'll wait until all the work is finished and then see if there is a chance of resurrecting it.

Geocache Description:

Small lock n lock box. Some busy roads to cross. Easy walk. Final cache is at ground level just off path. GPS is unreliable at final location so please use the clue.

The film of the book of Helen Fieldings’ newspaper column has become a handbook for fun living around London. Bridget Jones (played by Renee Zellweger) is an unattached 30-something who realizes she's got to change her life. After a New Year's Eve, she vows that this new year is the one in which she'll get her act together. She'll lose weight, she'll smoke and drink less, and she'll document it all in a diary. Complicating everything is Bridget's attraction to her boss, Daniel Cleaver (played by Hugh Grant), a man of questionable character. They launch an affair and Bridget falls for him head over heels, only to realize later that her feelings aren't reciprocated. Thrown into the mix is barrister Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), who admittedly finds Bridget attractive but whom Bridget finds repulsive. It won't be until Bridget clearly sees the truth about Daniel, that she also clearly sees Mark for the man he is, and her feelings for him for what they really are. 1. N51 30.451 W000 05.568 The given coordinates lead to a pub close to the first stage. Your GPS will probably not work at the first stage because of the high buildings so I will help you. This pub is, in fact, a movie location in it’s own right. It is the pub where Tom Cruise chills out at the end of Mission Impossible. From here, pass under the railway bridge into Clink Street. Bridget and Daniels first date ends at his very smart Clink Wharf Apartment. Half way down Clink Street, opposite the Museum is a stone in the wall dedicated to the man ‘whose vision and commitment led to the redevelopment of this area.’ Q1. What are his dates? These are ABCD-EFGH. 2. N51 30.322 W000 05.388 The given coordinates will lead you to the pub above which Bridget lived. Across the street you can see the shops which were transformed into the cab office, the newsagent and, of course, the fictitious Greek restaurant where caddish Daniel Cleaver and Mark Darcy slug it out during a birthday party. There is a large wooden plaque on the outside wall of the pub. Q2. What date was the pub built? This is IJKL. Q3. What is the date of the Michael Caine film also filmed here? This is MNOP. The final cache is at N51 PF.(GBK)-7 W000 HC.(CFM)-3 Please use stealth at the final as it is a popular area for lunch breaks. Be sure the cache is well hidden. Only accessible during daylight hours. Other local Bridget Jones locations include: Borough Market Bridget plods glumly through the market after discovering Cleaver with “Lara, from the New York office”. Butlers Wharf Daniel and Bridget enjoy a date at Cantina del Ponte, 36 Shad Thames, on the Butler's Wharf quayside. Initially a Terence Conran restaurant, it’s since changed hands, but remains a heartily Italian restaurant – and with a terrific view of Tower bridge. Shad Thames Daniel and Bridget enjoy their first clinch beneath the walkways of Shad Thames itself. Travel London Underground (Northern Line – City Branch). There are also many Bus Routes serving the area, including: 21, 35, 40, 133, 343, 381, RV1 There is free parking available adjacent to the Jubilee Market but spaces are limited and it fills up fast. There are car parks on the corner of Southwark Street and Southwark Bridge Road, and on Snowsfields.
