Geocache Description:

Requires an investment of time. It took us 2 1/2 hours to reach the site from Arroyo Grande - and we knew where we were going and had the right eqt. for the job. From "four corners" (the trailhead), it's 4.7 miles ONE WAY. with 1,000 foot elevation gain, loose footing, rocks. Bring LOTS of water (especially in summer months), be SURE to tell someone exactly where you're going (better yet, take someone with you AND tell others where you're going), and bring sustenance.

I’ve only been at this for two months, but I’ve already grown weary of finding caches full of nothing but used kids junk, McDonald’s toys, pennies, rocks, feathers, broken seashells and straight-up garbage (really…people have tossed toothpicks in caches we’ve visited…what can these be but garbage). Even my 4 year old has a hard time finding a fair trade for the goodies she’s willing to give up.

So, in the interest of making this game more fun for the grownups, I’m upping the ante, but not without a price. This cache is located off the well-beaten path. It requires driving skill, four-wheel-drive or other off-highway vehicle (horse, mountain bike, motorcycle, quad). And lest this cache be perceived as a simple drive-by, we’ve added an exercise element to the end of it. (It’s always good to stretch your legs.)

We all have CDs and cassette tapes that have somehow managed to wheedle their way into our collections, though we never listen to them. Maybe they were gifts from those who knew not our musical tastes. Maybe they were “freebies” from the record clubs. Who knows?

This cache is all about trading CDs and cassettes in good working order for others we might prefer. Of course, our kids have also made their own trinket contribution to share with other kids who may join their parents on this scenic journey (particularly when the wildflowers are out).

To keep this cache going, PLEASE don’t trade music for travel bugs at this cache or we’ll run out of music. (Can’t run out of tunes, man!) If you’d like to TAKE some music, LEAVE some music AND the TB. Consider the TB an entirely separate game inside the game.

The cache is a black ammo can with yellow geocache markings.
