HuLuDun is the old name of FengYuan, Taichung. There are 3 stories about the name.
1.It's translated from the pronunciation of the tribe's calling, means " a founded tribe which the lord blesses".
2.The Japanese found that the agriculture here is quite prosperous, so named it "FengYuan" which means " a plain where is abundant with rice ".
3.There are 2 mounds look like calabashes. So call it HuLu(calabash)Dun(mound).
There are 2 kinds of local specialties:
cake & side dish. Cake stores gather along the ZhongZheng Street.
I prefer Rosepie( http://www.rosepie.com.tw/ N24 15.882 E120 43.158) And there are many delicious side dish stalls situate next to the CiJi Temple.
