Plusieurs caches ont été placées sur ce site de la Savane des Pétrifications à Sainte Anne dans le sud de la Martinique.
CACHE N°4
LA DIRECTION :
Depuis la Grande Anses des Salines, prendre la route caillouteuse en direction de la Grande Terre des Salines. Longer la plage de la Grande Terre jusqu'au bout et garer la voiture au bout du parking vers la barrière. Le sentier commence juste après dans le sous-bois bordant l'Anse à Prunes.
LE SITE :
La Savane des Pétrifications se situe au bout de la Presqu'île de Sainte-Anne à la pointe méridionale de la Martinique, située à l'ancien emplacement d'un volcan dont le morne des pétrifications (119 M d'altitude ). Le lieu doit son nom au fait que l'on y trouvait autrefois de nombreux morceaux de bois, parfois d'arbres, fossilisés. Mais les pillages ont fait disparaitre ces vestiges géologiques et la Savane n'attire plus aujourd'hui que les randonneurs qui viennent admirer l'étonnant paysage. On est en effet au coeur d'une petite zone quasi désertique posée sur une ile tropicale à la végétation habituellement luxuriante. Le sentier, qui constitue une petite portion de la Trace des Caps, débute dans le sous bois jouxtant la jolie plage de l'Anse à Prunes. On arrive ensuite à un petit pont de bois qui permet le franchissement de la rivière de l'Etang des Salines. Celui ci marque véritablement l'entrée de la Savane. Le sentier se faufile ensuite entre la mer et une grande étendue de terre où les herbes hautes de couleur paille ondulent sous le vent. Le contraste des couleurs est saisissant ! A mesure que l'on progresse, la côte se fait plus découpée et le chemin s'élève de quelques mètres sitôt passé l'Anse Braham... On arrive alors à la Pointe d'Enfer qui offre un panorama magnifique sur la côte. La mer est ici souvent forte et les vagues puissantes viennent frapper bruyamment le pied de la falaise. Le sentier aborde alors la partie la plus aride du parcours: L'érosion a totalement fait disparaitre la végétation et il ne reste plus que la roche granuleuse de couleur ocre. 500m plus loin on arrive au début de la plage de l'Anse Trabaud qui marque la fin de la Savane des Pétrifications.
LA CACHE :
Une fois que vous êtes entré dans la savane, le site est très facile à part le passage du pont en bois.. La cache N°4 de taille moyenne est placée à quelques mètres. Faîtes preuve d'une grande discrétion car les lieux sont assez fréquentés par les baigneurs, marcheurs et sportifs. Veuillez bien replacer la cache à son bon endroit pour les suivants.

THE DIRECTION :
Since Grande Anse des Salines, to take the rocky road in the direction of the Grande Terre des Salines. Follow the beach of the Grande Terre up to the end and park the car at the end of the parking lot towards the barrier. The path begins later in the undergrowth lining the Anse à Prunes..
THE SITE:
The Savanna of the Petrifactions is situated at the end of the Peninsula of saint-Anne in the Southern point of Martinique, situated in the old location of a volcano of which the sad of the petrifactions (119 M of height). The place owes its name to the fact that we found formerly numerous pieces of wood, sometimes trees, fossilized there. But the plunders removed these geological vestiges and the Savanna does not attract any more today than the walkers who come to admire the surprising landscape. We are indeed at the heart of a small almost desert zone put on a tropical island in the usually luxuriant vegetation. The path, which establishes a small portion of the Track of Courses, begins in it under wood adjoining the attractive beach of the Anse à Prunes. We arrive then at a small wooden bridge which allows the crossing of the river of the Pond of Saltworks. That this really marks the entrance of the Savanna. The path sneaks then between the sea and the big area of land where the tall grass of color straw waves under the wind. The contrast of colors is striking! As we progress, the coast makes more cut and the path rises of some meters right after past the Handle Braham... We arrive then at the forefront of Hell which offers a magnificent panorama on the coast. The sea is often strong here and the powerful waves come to strike noisily the foot of the cliff. The path approaches then the driest part of the route: the erosion totally removed the vegetation and there is not more than a granular rock of ochre color. 500m farther we arrive at the beginning of the beach of the Anse Trabaud which marks the end of the Savanna of the Petrifactions.
THE CACHE :
When you entered the savanna, the site is very easy except for the passage of the wooden bridge.. The cache N°4 medium-sized hiding place is placed a few meters away. Summits proof of a big discretion because places are seen frequently enough by the swimmers, the walkers and the and the sportsmen. Please please replace, the hiding place in its good place for the following ones.
