CONGRATS diamonddave048 FTF!!! A P+G for the experienced GCer. For the novice take your time as the parking near GZ is on a wide pull-off so you can relax, search, and enjoy a different view of Chief Mtn.
You are traveling on MT 17, also known as Chief Mtn Highway. MT 17 connects Glacier National Park (US) and Waterton Lakes National Park (Canada eh!) at the Chief Mtn Port of Entry (open May-Sept) Available all year however winter road conditions near Babb, MT may limit access and should be attempted only by experienced winter drivers. If the road isn't plowed break out the snowshoes or XC skis for added adventure June-Oct this area is considered open range so be alert of 4-legged walking hamburgers as well as other large animals in the roadway and along the shoulders. Busy roadway (summer) so always be muggle ready. Off road travel is not required for this GC however you have come to this area to experience mother nature finest creations. Always remember this is large predator country so always be alert, travel in pairs, make plenty of noise and carry bear spray for any off road recreation. CITO.
