Mendenhall Glacier Travel Bug

This is a TRAVEL BUGS & COINS
ONLY cache, not a regular trading geocache. We ask that cachers
use this cache to trade travel bugs and coins. If you take a
TB, please leave a TB in its place. The idea is that all
visitors should have the expectation to find Travel Bugs here. No
worries, we promise to move on any bugs that appear to stay too
long so no one gets stuck here. It would be nice to always have a
few in there so please do not “clean it out”.

ABOUT THE LODGE:
We are only a short hop from many busy cache sites. Situated in
front of the world famous Mendenhall Glacier, in Juneau Alaska,
Mendenhall Glacier travel Bug Lodge is the ultimate place for
stressed out Travel Bugs to hang out and relax a while.
HOW TO GET HERE
We are less then a 5-minute walk from the main parking lot,
closest to the glacier. In the corner of the parking lot, take the
trail that heads down the stairs and to the creek below. Follow the
boardwalk system over the creek, and take the first dirt trail to
the right. From this point you are about 4 minutes out. You’ll
continue along the maze of trails, staying to the right side. There
is no need to go through brush until you are within 70ft.
WHY A HOTEL HERE?
Juneau had a need for a TB hotel where visitors to the city would
be able to easily swap TB/coins. Mendenhall Glacier is definately a
"must see" while visiting the Capital City, so the thought was to
place a large container for swapping bugs and coins. the second
requirement was to have something that is close to the parking lot
so its easier to make it back to the bus in time, and the thirds
thing was to have a location where you can hide and be able to sign
the log easily. Hopefully this cache satisfies those requirements.
Enjoy! If you are on a tight schedule, there are two other caches
that are close by, however on different trails. GCGDYX (Where the
Beavers play) is another 10 minutes down the trail and not to
difficult to find. One that is closer, would be Mendenhall Coin
Xchange, (GCGDYX), however this is more of a multi cache, but
closer to the main paved path.
