Geocache Description:

www.geocachealaska.org

It’s the Travel Bug® that’s taking the global Geocaching community on a rocket ride to space. Whether you’re in Mexico, France, Australia or Ester, Alaska, you’re primed to join the geocaching community in celebrating the spirit of exploration. We are one of more than 1,200 "Geocaching in Space" events scheduled around the world. Those who attend this Event Cache on Wednesday, November 6 from 6 to 9pm, earn the "Geocaching in Space" souvenir. AkTrekster has figured out a way to connect us all with NASA Television to watch the launch! Liftoff is at 7:08pm.

Before you follow the directions below please be observant of your surroundings once you turn on to Cripple Creek Road. We know you will be because you are a geocacher and your heightened sense of awareness and geosense to detect things may come in handy before and after liftoff."

So you don't get "Lost in Space" go 2 miles past the Ester Turnoff on the Parks Highway to Cripple Creek Road on your left. (Turn that geosense on!)  Go 1.3 miles to Aspenwood Drive on your right. Follow signs or take Aspenwood Drive 800' to the cul-de-sac then stay to your right and follow the driveway all the way to Ground Zero (Big Green House). You'll pass a small brown house on your right on your way up. Please don't park next to this house. Our renter lives there. If you see cars parking around the cul-de-sac at the end of Aspenwood Drive you may want to park down there and walk up since parking may be limited near Ground Zero.

Ground Zero's commissary will have dogs, buns, chips and more while you bring your favorite dish and non-alcoholic beverage. Liquidearth will provide a bonfire and a place to heat up food, drinks and yourself (if necessary?). Let folks know what you're bringing on your "will attend" log. Thanks everyone. We look forward to seeing you there for liftoff! If you have a spare folding camp chair bring it along!

Costumes are encouraged!!

"Those That Cache In The Banks" wish to recognize our state organization, "GeocacheAlaska!, Inc." for their help and support with funding for this event.
