Geocache Description:

The area is quite approachable even in bad weather conditions, however after days of rain the grassland will be muddy and you should come prepared for that. Usually there are sheep grazing around the castle - they appear mostly harmless.

Climb the hill to N54°02.7850 W06°29.2846. Enter the castle here and look to your right in the entrance area. The information-plate will tell you about the castle's history and Lady Rohesia de Verdun's son. Adding 1402 to the year of his dead gives you the missing part of the longitude of the cache. N 54°02.8684 W06°29.xxxx. The archer slits, especially in the south and east wall, will give you great views over the surrounding area.

Probably the best location to park your car is a micro village around 700m to the east of the coordinates. However, you might also be able to park your car alongside the road as close as you can get to the coordinates. There are two gates and one pedestrian entrance to the area. The pedestrian entrance is very hard to spot from the roadside (roughly 25m to the west of the western gate, 2m east from the brook), so I suggest to enter through one of the gates, please close them properly after entering as there might be sheep around.
Initially the cache was placed a few months ago inside the castle which apparently broke a rule stating to stay away from historical monuments, so it wasn't published.

Small note on cache maintenance: I will stay in the north east of Ireland for at least the next 15 months. In that time I will be able to maintain the cache myself. After that, in case I am not staying in Ireland for longer, I will ask a fellow cacher from the region to take over the ownership of the cache.
