Waypoint 1 is a path that leads straight past the cache location. Follow this path as far as you can and then bundu bash the last few metres to the rock face. This cache entails a bit of rock climbing. No mountaineering equipment needed, just be careful though as a few of the rocks are loose/unstable. Try to avoid the fynbos while bundu bashing. It is possible as there are plenty of open sandy spots between the plants.
This cache has been placed in memory of our brother and son, Clinton Crocker. The cache site overlooks his last resting place at the harbour entrance. Looking in a North-easterly direction spot the white buoy closest to you and about thirty metres past that and to the left is where he rests. Our brother always had a fascination for all things ancient, Celtic and Viking. He often spoke about the glorious farewells the Vikings gave their fallen warriors and that is how we said goodbye to him.
All the children painted and prepared a boat for him and a mast was stepped to it. Each family member then placed an item of precious value to them or something that reminded them of him in the boat together with flowers. His ashes were in a wooden cask and the boat was towed out close to the above-mentioned spot. The boat was set alight as the sun was setting and as the flames consumed the boat all his family and friends were on shore waving goodbye to him. The boat burned for about an hour until the waves consumed it. During this ceremony a squall suddenly sprung up, dark clouds moved across and lightning struck the mountains across the valley. A cold wind swept through the valley and to us it seemed as though he was showing his approval of his final farewell.
