Geocache Description:

This cache is located at one of Shepparton's least known or publicised tourist attractions - in fact so little known that a web search will fail to find it.

A multi cache that requires a bit of a climb but will reward with a view for miles from the highest accessable point in the area.

To enable completion by those with cardiac conditions, wheelchairs or small children, or those unlucky enough to arrive to find the gate locked it can be completed using the hint.

The Telstra Tower in Shepparton can be seen from just about anywhere in town. It is a landmark of the area and the clocks on the tower can be read for quite some distance away.

The structure towers over the town at a height of 88 metres, requiring lighting to ward off aircraft, making it visible at night also.

Thanks to the Lions Clubs of the area many years ago an observation deck was included as part of the structure a little lower than half way up. I thought about calling this one "Not the Rialto" or something similar, but as the terrain here is so flat and altitude is something that is very difficult to gain I decided differently.

Shepparton has a lot to offer tourists to the area. Despite this it remains a town that is frequently passed through on the way somewhere else. Very rarely do you hear of someone going to Shepparton for a weekend, unless to visit family or friends.

This cache draws attention to one of Shepparton's high points and I hope you enjoy it.

The gates to the tower are generally open between 10am - 3pm Monday to Friday, but are frequently open outside those hours. In order to enable the cache to be completed if the gates are locked or for some reason the cacher is unable to complete the task at hand it can be completed using the hint and the public telephones nearby at the post office. If you use this method please note it in your log.

Hope you enjoy it.

The starting coordinates will put you where you can stand back and crane your neck to read the clock face. Nearby on a sunny day - it's nearly always sunny in the "Solar City" - you can try and confirm the time by making your self a human sundial on the mosaic on the foot path.

Climb to the observation deck and enjoy the view. At the top of the stairs on the right hand side as you enter the observation deck is a control box for the clock. On either side of the box is a sticker with the name of the company that maintains it and their phone number.

The company is _______ Systems.

The last 8 digits of the phone number (common to both stickers) are ABCDEFGH.

X = E + G
Y = D - F

The micro is located at
S36° HH.XYH
E145° HE.BBD

NOTE : The micro is typical of one of my caches. It is also in a VERY public place (similar to Geometry in Melbourne if you are familiar with it). You may be able to work out where the cache is but be unable to grab it without being seen. Please if that is the case - wait until it is safe or come back later after business hours.

Likewise you may be able to get it but not put it back unobserved - wait to do so until it is safe. This is why it's DoD is 4. I don't want it muggled and with the sudden influx of new cachers to the sport in recent months public caches are more frequently being compromised by careless caching.

Hope you enjoy it.

Dave

PS Bonus points to any one who beats Rhinogeo to it.
