nicolo's 2 years of geocaching ... geocache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ScouterHerb & MrsB: First time water levels allowed us to get down there. The cache is gone. It looks like the water was at least 1 meters deep last year. I followed the flood path out hoping to find the cache hung up somewhere, but no luck. In light of extremely low number of visits because of the water on road in, and the unpredictable river, we have decided to archive the cache rather than replace it.

Geocache Description:

A nice stroll in the Sprinkbank area

I found my first geocache on August 15, 2004. The cache was Nose Hill Camo Cache ( GC3A31 ) which I have since adopted ... I think that this was j2d2's first cache as well ... spooky, eh?

Anywho, to mark this anniversary and honor all the great people I have met while caching I have placed this cache in the same general area as a cache that I really enjoyed finding : RedRouge's "Sticks 'n Stones" ( GCNMGA )

You can park here : N51 02.831 W114 21.011 ( these coords are approximate ) and walk the ~1.2 km to the cache. On the way to my cache you can pick up the first caches of the two multi-caches :

RedRouge's "Sticks 'n Stones" ( GCNMGA )

3 Bubbas' "Hat Trick" ( GCYCDX )

and then cross over a little stream to my cache, then the finals for "Sticks 'n Stones" and "Hat Trick" ... you'll be rewarded with a view of the Elbow River.

The round trip distance to do these caches : ~4.5 km

I have placed many items of nicolo memorabilia as well as lots of other good swag items ... please trade fairly. I have placed no golf balls or McToys in this cache and don't expect to hear of any getting traded in. Don't make me hunt you down!

NOTE : ONE CACHER, ONE TRADE ITEM!

If any are concerned about the "No Trespassing" sign at the top and along the trail to the caches, don't be. Here is information from RedRouge's "Sticks 'n Stones" :

“Just to clear up any confusion, there is a road allowance along the power lines that allows access from the main road to the Elbow River. As you walk down the road allowance there is private property on each side that is well marked and fenced. The locals have used this road/path for years for walking/fishing etc...”

You can easily enter the trail from the top by going through the "horse fence" which is located a little bit east of the gate that has the "No Trespassing" sign.

This is a NoCCRAP certified cache :

(nicolo is moving to Arizona and this is one of four of his caches we have adopted. It will always remain nicolo's cache, and we will try to maintain it with the same fun loving spirit with which he placed it!- ScouterHerb & MrsB)
