Winifrede is a coal community. It was formed in 1881.
I placed this cache here because it is a nice and easy place to get to. There is also a nice view. If you like to see waterfowl, this is a good place to find plenty of Ducks and Geese. This area is also a popular fishing spot. I also found deer tracks while placing the cache. You wouldnt think there would be deer in this small wooded lot. Parking beside the road is best if you park on the Chesapeake side of the field. Its the side closest to the bridge. Please stay to the wooded side on the left when entering this area. There is a train yard close by and there is NO TRESPASSNIG. Do not enter train yard. Stay to the left, then take the trail to the left to begin and you will be fine. This road will take you to the water. I often visit this spot on my lunch break.

I got worried because no one was finding this cache. Several cachers have tried to locate this cache but came up empty. I went out with Cache-Crazy today to solve the problem. Cache-Crazy found it but I was off by about 150 feet. I rechecked the coords and yup, they were off. My GPS is rather old (1996). My apologies to those who have tried to find it. The new coords are posted. N38 12.798' W 081 31.367'. You shouldnt have any problems finding it now. Please excuse my poor effort. It will not happen again. I will not be placing any new caches until my GPS problem is rectified.
