Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed in a little known reserve near the edge of Hastings. King Creek runs through Hastings which commenced growing in the 1840s and was initially referred to as Star Point or Kings Creek. It was not known as the township of Hastings until the 1860s. It supported a number of fishermen who gathered and built small huts or cribs along the foreshore and near the jetty. The inland areas were first developed as sheep and pig runs by white settlers and later much of the land surrounding the town was cleared in the 1880s and planted with orchards. Discovery of gas and oil in large quantities in Bass Strait in the mid 20th century caused Western Port to attract major companies such as BHP (now known as Blue Scope Steel) and Esso. There is not much walking involved and the cache is hidden in obvious caching fashion. You are looking for a 200ml sistema container. Cache initially contains a scratchie for the First To Find, log book, pen, a couple of swaps and 2 geocoins. Please limit swaps to small items only.
