At last! A TB Hotel at Wintergreen!
This cache is an ammo can. You'll find it covered in sticks and leaves. Even if you don't find it so well covered, be sure you leave it totally covered up!!!
Located near the base of the Highlands Leisure Trail, this is the last of the caches I placed while visiting my parents for Christmas. These TBs need to move! Feel free to trade more than one item but please leave as many trackables as you take so that the cache remains fully stocked!
You can park at the Wintergreen Overlook (home to a cache names Overlooks of Wintergreen #4) and catch the trail near there or, as I recommend, park near the Diamond Hill condos and enter the trail from the bottom. Entering the trail from here makes your round trip much shorter. I've left parking coords for the Diamond Hill condo parking area.
An amusing story...I meant for this cache to involve two pulleys, several trees, and a few hundred feet of rope. My plan was to have the cache at the posted coords...but way up in the air. Then you'd have to follow the rope all the way pack to its anchor and let the cache down. While up in a tree trying to toss the rope over a high-up branch I got my rope very stuck. I decided to cut that length of rope and start over. Well I cut the rope with no problem, but as I put my blade away I cut my finger very badly. I started bleeding all over the place and had to completely bail on my grand plan. After using some of the 3 feet of snow that had recently fallen to slow the bleeding, I put my glove back on and set about finding a new place to hide the cache. SkiFever found the whole thing very amusing. Enjoy the cache. Someday very soon I will return to Wintergreen to see my pulley system cache dream realized.
