Geocache Description:

Beinn an Doith......Beinn a Dithhh......Ah forget it! Beinn Dot is fine!!

Despite being near impossible to pronounce there are few finer places to take in views of the Southern Highlands than Beinn an Dothaidh. Usually climbed in connection with Beinn Dorain it stands at the South side of Rannoch moor offering views of mountains all around.

To reach the summit, head North from the cache 'North or South?!' along the obvious path which is much steeper than the path to Beinn Dorain's summit. Whether this path continues to the top I'm unsure as when I placed it, it was covered in snow. That said the upper slopes, despite being steep are just grass and heather and there are no crags or difficulties on the way up. The cache is located at the West cairn of Beinn an Dothaidh, HOWEVER THIS IS NOT THE TRUE SUMMIT! It was put there for the views. To claim the munro you must head East for 300m from the cache to the cairn which is 4m higher than the West top.

The cache is in an easy location and does not involve descending down any steep slopes or crags so if you are in any doubt, please check the spoiler photo.

Please be aware that in good conditions this is still a strenuous walk but in bad conditions extreme care should be taken as it can be very dangerous. Weather conditions can change in a matter of minutes and all the usual warnings apply when walking up munros. The following points should be observed (Thanks Snaik!)

You are responsible for your own safety.
Are you fit enough to complete your chosen walk in the available time?
Know where you are going on the walk and follow the route on your map.
If in a Group know how many are in your party and stay together, never split up.
Ensure you have enough food plus emergency rations
Carry a map & compass, survival bag, torch, whistle and small first aid kit. Know how to use them.
In severe winter conditions you must carry an ice axe. You are also recommended to carry crampons.
Learn how to use your equipment
Cold temperatures will reduce the life of your batteries
Please leave your route with a responsible person.
