Geocache Description:

In keeping with the theme of the launch of our geo-friend into space, we will have a photo op here at this special place!

We will have a photo-op flash mob event here to wish our fellow geocacher luck in his journey into space!  Parking is at the firestation nearby, with permission and their blessings as well.  Plan on meeting at GZ at 4 PM for photo op at 4:15.  This will give cachers time to do a little caching and still get to other events being held in the area, GC4Q1HR Weigh in at SCALES #2 , in Millbury, MA orGC4QB0H  RIGA Goes to Space in nearby Rhode Island.

A little history of this area: Dr. Robert H. Goddard launched the first liquid-fueled rocket from his Aunt's farm in Auburn on March 16, 1926. The Rotary Club of Auburn has established a park and erected a monument in honor of Robert H. Goddard. Goddard Memorial Park contains a model of Dr. Goddard's prototype liquid fueled rocket and a Type A-1 Polaris Ballistic Missile. You can also check nearest waymarks. As a bonus, attending this event qualifies you for the "Geocaching in Space" souvenir on geocaching.com, celebrating the expected delivery of a travel bug by astronaut Rick Mastraccio to a geocache deployed on the International Space Station by Richard Garriott in 2008, as well as the FTF for that cache.
