EARTH DAY

This cache was launched at the 2019 Earth Day Marsh Cleanup event GC82YX8. It is one of the eight geocaches placed for that event. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22. Worldwide, various events are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day now includes events in more than 190 countries, which are now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network.

Earth Day 1990
Involving 200 million people in more than 140 countries and lifting the status of environmental issues onto the world stage, Earth Day activities in 1990 gave a huge boost to recycling efforts worldwide and helped pave the way for the 1992 United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Unlike the first Earth Day in 1970, this 20th Anniversary was waged with stronger marketing tools, greater access to television and radio, and multimillion-dollar budgets.
