I decided to try this single track after grabbing a cache on Raptor Ridge. I didn't think it had a name, but when I put the coordinates into Google Earth I saw the name Ranger Ridge had been given to this spineback trail that branches off from Raptor Ridge and descends directly into the campground. The view of Mount Baldy is particularly stunning from up here.
The GZ is under the only tree of any size along Ranger Ridge, which is mostly just grass and gopher holes. You don't have to climb to find this one, but you do have to get under there and gaze about. Expect full shade, which is no bad thing.
